Other Enrolment Details for Our School
Starting School in Kindergarten
Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.
Parents of children born between 1st January and 31st July can choose between sending their child to school the year their child turns five or the year they turn six. It is recommended to seek advice from your preschool to check if your child is ready for school.
Apply Online
Our new online enrolment process makes it easier and faster to enrol your child at your local school.
To apply online, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- live in the local enrolment area of this school.
If you are not eligible to use the online form or prefer not to, you can download an application to enrol (PDF 768.4KB).
Temporary Visas and International Students
For information about eligibility and forms to complete, visit the temporary residents program.
If your child is a temporary visa holder you will need to provide the following documents to the school when enrolling:

- Current visa and previous visas (if applicable)
- Authority to Enrol issued by the Temporary Residents Program Unit. This is required for visitor and temporary visa holders (other than sub class 571P reffered to below)
- Authority to Enrol or evidence of permission to transfer issued by the International Student Centre (if holding an international full fee student visa, sub class 571P)
- Evidence of the visa the student has applied for (if the student holds a bridging visa)
After the enrolment forms have been completed and processed and a school uniform has been purchased, your child is ready to start.
Temporary residents will need to wait until the Temporary Residents Program has given Kensington Public the authority for your child to start school.
