Our Extra-curricular Highlights
Debating and Public Speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and Performing Arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and Excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Environmental Club
Students learn how to care for the planet by growing plants, tending the school garden, and exploring sustainable practices. They work together to make their school greener, while discovering how small actions can make a big difference for the environment.
UNSW Professional Experience HUB School
As a Department of Education HUB School, Kensington Public School partners with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) to strengthen links between local schools and university staff. Together, we investigate innovative practices in pre-service teacher supervision and expand knowledge and expertise in delivering quality professional experiences.
The HUB program provides high-quality professional learning to the community, focusing on mentoring and supporting growth against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the Graduate level. Throughout the year, we welcome pre-service teachers from many universities including UNSW, Curtin University and Western Sydney University into our classrooms to complete their professional experience placements. Our staff act as mentors to those new to the profession, sharing expertise and modelling effective teaching practice.
This partnership means there are often two teachers in each classroom; an experienced educator and a pre-service teacher. This creates valuable opportunities for mentoring, collaboration and enhanced student support. Together, we contribute to excellence in initial teacher education and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
