Confucius Classroom
The NSW Department of Education and Communities Confucius Institute is a collaboration/joint venture between the NSW Department of Education and Communities and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban).
Students at Kensington Public School have the opportunity to be involved in art, culture, music and language experiences each week.
Expected outcomes from Confucius Classroom
All students at Kensington Public School will have the opportunity to learn about the Chinese language and culture. In doing so Kensington Public School will become a hub in within our local area, region and state in providing exemplary teaching and learning programs of Chinese language and culture.
Our Goals
We are confident that with the support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the NSW Department of Education and Communities Confucius Institute we can achieve the following goals.
Goal 1:
To deliver an innovative Confucius Classroom program that enhances student outcomes in Chinese language.
Goal 2:
To establish a sister school relationship with a school in Jiangsu Province and to develop long term successful programs that foster understanding and knowledge between our two countries.
Goal 3:
To promote Chinese language and culture within the Kensington Public School community through a range of activities and events including supporting local Chinese cultural activities, events and competitions.
Goal 4:
To provide learning opportunities for those students who do not have access to instruction in the Chinese language via our video conferencing facilities or by visiting our school.
Goal 5:
To provide professional learning opportunities for teachers in our region and state, including opportunities to observe and share teaching and learning programs. These professional learning opportunities can be accessed via our video conferencing facilities or by visiting our school.
